I teach the Spanish language to 2nd and 3rd graders at a charter elementary school serving low-income families. My students are primarily Latino and African American, and it is a tremendous challenge to meet the needs of both Spanish-native and non-native speakers in the Spanish classroom. My goal is to put an emphasis on reading and writing, in order to support the bilingual literacy development of all my students. Outside of my classroom, my students read and write exclusively in English.

About my class
