Building character in high school students is crucial. This is their last step before becoming an adult. I would like to use R.J. Palacio's book Wonder to highlight the importance of character in interpersonal relationships. Growing up is tough, but through Auggie Pullman many students find the inspiration to become a better person. I would like my students to develop a strong character and a growth mindset using Wonder as a key text. By choosing a book that is high-interest and reading level accessible, I hope to engage my students in an enjoyable story that helps them to become a better person as well.
