Here at the Center for Gifted Education, we try to teach to all of our student's needs by addressing thinking and affective skills as well as content area knowledge and skills. Since I have a lot of science background and knowledge I am able to create unique units that teach a variety of science concepts in a variety of ways. For example, I taught some math and physics concepts while teaching a unit on Bicycles, or chemistry concepts within a cooking/foods class. Maybe people feel that gifted kids are the "good" kids, but often they are the kids that are acting out due to boredom and challenge everything they hear, and if you are not on your toes, keeping them engaged, they can come up with a plethora of ways to act out to entertain themselves. These students are often at risk of failing in life and school because they have never been challanged and it is my job to push them to be their best.
