Research shows that the development of students' first language is critical to the development of proficiency in a second language. Having Spanish language books available would help our English Language Learners and English as a Second Language students improve their literacy skills while enjoying the many benefits of reading for pleasure. This project will give our Spanish-speaking students access to books in the school library that are written in their native language - the same access as their classmates! It is my hope that the Spanish language book collection in our library will help our students feel more comfortable and confident.

About my class
