Everyone should have access to books they feel comfortable reading. I have a lot of Spanish speaking students. They need books, too. Before they get into the English books it is easier to get the younger students passionate about books in a language they understand. Hooking students on the classics in their native language will create the passion, to then transfer them to the English versions. Although I have students from preK to 8th grade I want to focus on younger students, building their reading vocabulary. I am not a native Spanish speaker, but I look forward to the opportunity to start reading these books to the students in a language they can understand.
