I have been teaching 2nd grade in East Oakland for nearly 5 years. I have fallen in love with this community of resilient and brilliant learners. The children and families of East Oakland have taught me about the power and impact a community can have partnered with school leaders, teachers, and support staff. It truly takes a village to nurture minds, close the achievement gap, and foster the social emotional learning of a child.
