Opening up a student's eyes to the growing diversity in our society is an essential component of his or her education. As a teacher in an urban setting, I know that it is my responsibility to engage students hailing from many different cultures by respecting the diversity that they bring to my classroom. As my students journey towards college, it is important that they understand the world around them by reading the stories of people unlike themselves. Furthermore, as a teacher in an urban pilot school, I work very hard to instill a sense of social responsibility and community leadership in my students.

About my class
