In my Special Education Resource Learning Room, students receive individual specialized instruction in their identified academic, social and/or behavioral area(s) of concern. Here we do our best to support learners identified as a Student with a Learning disability (SWD) to maximize their learning potential. Qualifying students are often identified as homeless, low-income or ESOL. Students are given opportunities to be supported by instructional modifications and accommodations not commonly seen or implemented by the general educator. This space provides an environment with little distractions, comfortable climate, and trusted staff/ stakeholders. Our students deserve exposure to technology and interventions our department cannot afford to fund but may surely benefit from. My students know that everyone learns differently and we must work hard to find our way. Help me bring resources, success and hope to my learners.
