My district is requiring my students with disabilities to spend a full 6 hours a day in front of their computers. This is developmentally inappropriate for their needs as many of them require multi-sensory strategies to engage with instruction. In addition to the use of sensory breaks and guided yoga breaks, I'm hoping to give each student an arsenal of fidgets to choose from throughout the day when they notice they're struggling to focus on instruction. Tools like gyrings and fidget cubes will give my students critical tactile stimulation and help them attend to virtual instruction.
