My students' two favorite experiences in the classroom are when they get to collaborate on projects and silent reading time. Right now, we have a small rug and a few throw blankets. They love to cozy up on the rug and work together or curl up with a good book. However, we do not have enough space and supplies for everyone. We would love to have a space that can accommodate more students! Traditional seating makes it sometimes difficult for a child to accomplish their goals. It is unreasonable to expect a child to sit in a desk all day long. It is also a challenge to get students to work together in desks. I am requesting a rug and supplies for flexible seating. These items will be used during centers, reading time, and group projects to give students options when choosing seating. Flexible, comfy seating will allow my students to be much more productive.
