Because my school does not provide textbooks, students rely on the craftiness of teachers to create curriculum. In doing so, every resource created for students such as worksheets, study guides, notes, projects and homework is printed by me. I want to provide my students with as much information as possible. In order to do this, I have to accommodate every student's learning style. I often create different notes for groups of students. My students with disabilities receive additional support. In addition, I provide the TOR (teacher of record) copies of the daily material so he/she can better assist my students who receive resource support. Having access to paper reduces the amount of stress on me and my students. I can create daily work that includes the precise information they need without having a paper quota in mind. I can also create additional lessons for after school support. Lastly, because my students spend long hours at school, they are often hungry at the end of the day. I typically pack extra food for the students and leave it in my locker. I would like to reward them for their diligence. Middle schoolers are definitely motivated by sweet treats!
