My students attend an urban public school which is located in a large metropolitan city. The school's community has been hit very hard by the economic problems faced by the city. Over 90% of our students receive free lunch. Today, one major push in education is the infusion of STEM and STEAM programs and activities. According to the United States Department of Education,"All young people should be prepared to think deeply and to think well so that they have the chance to become the innovators, educators, researchers, and leaders who can solve the most pressing challenges facing our nation and our world, both today and tomorrow." Over 80% of my students do not have access to Internet Service in their homes. Therefore, almost all of their exposure to research, activities, and other learning venues are only accessible to them when they are in school.
