Education has become more than just teaching reading and arithmetic; it is now about teaching all students to grow as individuals. We now know that if a student is unable to understand and manage their feelings, they will not be available for academic learning. We need to teach these social-emotional skills, just as we need to teach reading and arithmetic. This project will help struggling students learn new strategies for identifying and managing feelings through the power of storytelling. Listening to books and laughing at characters' mistakes is a great way to start conversations with students about their own actions. These books will help my students become stronger individuals and learners.
