A Black Light classroom helps my students love learning in a new way. During free choice work times on Fridays, my munchkins can choose an activity in the classroom that is specifically made to light up under the UV lights. While free choice work time is what usually happens on a daily basis, on these Glow Fridays, our classroom can be seen in a whole new light...literally! Making sure students love learning and having fun is an important factor in my classroom. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in activity, but when it's in the dark, it makes it even better! They are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just working under our normal classroom lights. Let me illuminate the possibilities for my students by offering them a whole new way to learn. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive when they get to see their work shine and glow. The materials that I have selected will help my students by giving the classroom an overall glow. The manipulatives will aide them in their learning centers. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to change the way they see things. Plus who doesn't like to party in the dark?! I have seen how alternative lighting can motivate my little munchkins into working harder, trying new things and letting their creative juices glow!
