I have the pleasure of teaching a diverse group of students that have unique learning styles. These individual learning styles require a multitude of varying school materials. Due to the fact my students come from homes with a low socioeconomic status, many of them lack funding for basic school supplies and only have the opportunity to use a variety of learning tools at school. By donating a variety of necessary school materials, my students will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful learning opportunities that will result in academic achievement. This will contribute to their passion for life-long learning and ultimately lead to their future success. For example, my kindergarten students love writing with dry erase markers in the phonics station. It is easier for them to use these materials in case there are mistakes. My students also learn from a variety of educational websites and are often on the computer during reading stations. In order for the students to be fully engaged they often wear headphones and are less distracted. Sometimes headphones break and therefore having a supply of headphones is necessary for their continued learning. Often times, since my students are learning fine motor skills, we use lined specialty paper so the students can learn how to write neatly and clearly. The paper is a great way for the students to practice writing their name and sentences.
