In our district, it is tradition for 5th graders to go on an overnight camping trip. Many of the funds that are raised are through the student's families. However, given our communities' circumstances we want to make this overnight trip possible without having to ask our families to sacrifice much. When we think about what's equitable and giving students equal access to these opportunities, we urge you to consider how impactful this experience can be in our students' lives. Students will get to experience hands on scientific inquiry through nature by observing animals and their habitats, the effects of environmental changes, and so much more! There will also be fun and unique health and wellness team building activities for students to do that go beyond the scope of their own backyard; these activities include orienteering, canoeing, and archery. Many of them have never had an opportunity to experience anything like this and we know that with your help we can help our student's experience these memories that will be sure to last a lifetime.
