In kindergarten math is a time to explore shapes, patterns, counting, adding, and subtracting. By having counting animals accessible to our class we will be able to explore many of our kindergarten math standards. Polydrons and magnetic building tiles will offer opportunities for my students to explore shapes and creatively discover new shapes. Having math read aloud books will offer one more way for students to access the information we are learning about math in class. Inspiring moments appear daily through kindergarten exploration using fun math supplies. The excitement that stems from their discoveries is contagious. Counting bugs can be categorized by bug, by color, by shape, and by size. Polydrons can make different 3D shapes that start whole group conversations. Great math read aloud books help teach concepts that some students need help understanding.
