Since my students are on so many different levels and are coming from several different home languages small group instruction is a very important component of my classroom. Headphones allow them to work in smaller groups and concentrate on their work and not the voices of others. These headphones will help them learn English using their native language for audio support. Also with headphones, some of my lower literacy students are able to pick audio books that interest them and listen to them during reading time instead of the whole class having to read one book. They can also practice listening skills that are needed for state tests.
