These historical fiction books, such as, Towers Falling, A Night Divided, and Dear America: The Winter of Red Snow, will aid in the spread of our social studies curriculum. With book clubs or literature circles, we are combining reading, writing, and social studies all in one. Students build relationships with their peers while discussing their books and creating a summative project based on their knowledge gained. 150 students will be able to access these books through our fifth grade team. Each semester a genre is tackled and currently our fifth grade has a limited supply of historical fiction novels. Students enjoy historical fiction and look forward to engaging with these novels.
