In our school district, we have 12 different schools. That means that our language arts budget must be spread across all the grade levels, making it difficult to get the newest, hottest books each year. It is already a challenge to get middle schoolers to engage in reading, and it becomes harder when the libraries are outdated. Having these new award winning books will captivate my students and lead them down a path to being lifelong readers. New books recognized as the best of their field will breathe new life into the classroom shelves that desperately want to be loved.

About my class
