I want to give my students more games and manipulatives to use in my classroom, thus my students will be able to see that math can be so much more than a number. Students will be able to have fun without realizing that they are actually learning fundamental math skills that they will all use in their future. I choose a variety of items to add to my classroom to enhance their learning of mental math, geometry and algebra. The different types of flash cards and dice will be used to speed up their mental math. The geometric shapes and geoboards will be used to visually see how shapes that are 3D become 2D, thus show how to find area, surface area and volume. The games will be used to enhance their skills in algebra and mental math in a non-traditional way.
