We are a Title 1 Schools in Michigan. My First Graders come with many needs and we work hard every day to meet their needs. We don't all learn the same or in the same way. I enjoy giving them an alternative to sitting at their tables all day. We are up and moving from our tables to the calendar area and to the carpet group area all day. Our floor is cold and hard! Bean bags, mats, cushions, and balance balls will give my busy students an alternative to sitting still all day. We love to move and staying focused is a challenge so providing them with options to help them stay on task and learn to love learning. Our school struggles to meet National Standards. Trying to reach students that have such diverse and serious needs is exhausting but the victories, even small ones, make every struggle worth it.
