As most online searches will show, movement is beneficial to the student. This includes not only the physical aspect but the cognitive also. Who has not seen the diagram of brain stimulation in an active vs. inactive student? In my class I want all students to participate, and there are days where students bring improper shoes or the shoes are an improper size making it difficult to participate. Maybe they had to stay with another family member, it rained and their shoes were soaked, they lost them... Having "shoes on standby" (SOS), I can make sure all students have proper shoes for class that day.
