My students attend a newly opened K-6 charter school with limited access to technology and academic resources. Having this document camera will allow me to better provide my students with the information they need while saving valuable materials by cutting down the number of copies made. There are many advantages to having a document camera in the classroom but mainly, I will be able to project math materials, show various writing examples, and easily demonstrate instructions under the camera while saving paper and trees. If we're doing a multi-step project or working on a writing assignment the camera will give a detailed view of what to do and allow me to face my students rather than have my back turned while I write on the board. This will minimize the amount of students who will misunderstand verbal instructions while maximizing my opportunity to identify students who need additional help. Students will also have access to single copy books. Students will be able to share their own work with the class, as an essential part of the writing process, as well.
