Every day, my students ask me dozens of questions related to time. What time is it? When do we go to lunch? Is it almost time for the bell to ring? My students are ready to learn how to tell time yet, as a first-year teacher I do not have the resources to make this experience fun and engaging. I strive on teaching my skills that will last them a lifetime and not just to graduation. Telling time is a skill my students will always use. Currently, many of my students are preparing for life after high school. They have high expectations for themselves and hope to work a steady job. Learning how to tell time is critical when preparing to work. In order to be successful in the workforce, my students need to learn how to tell time so they can arrive to work on time, take appropriate break times, and leave work at the correct time. The teacher model clock would provide a visual and model for my students. The individual clocks would allow each of my students to participate at the same time. The telling time puzzles and flash cards would allow me to set up different stations. These materials would help make learning to tell time much more engaging.
