My students are signed up to participate in an international pen pal project. Each section of my class will be partnered with another class from 4 countries around the world for a letter writing exchange. Through this project we hope to see how incredibly similar we are and celebrate our beautiful differences. Sadly, many of my students do not have the resources to travel within our region, much less internationally. But just as a good book can take you on an adventure, communicating with students from around the world can open our eyes to what lies beyond our borders. Good quality stationery and writing utensils will help us present the best version of ourselves through writing and allow for more variety and self-expression than old-fashioned notebook paper! Students will be writing several letters back and forth with their pen pal. I hope to provide them an opportunity to express themselves through their choice of stationery and pens. Also, we will be mailing several packages of letters, scrapbooks, welcome kits, and artifacts to our partner classrooms.
