I teach math and science to my second graders. On any given day, I have at least three students absent who need a reliable device to use at home, as well as the students I am trying to teach how to navigate a digital learning management system while they’re there with me. We had new devices to give students, but they are tearing up frequently. Currently, I have 4 students out of 12 without a device to work on. I’m afraid this is going to be an ongoing problem, as the issue has been the same in all 4 of the devices I mentioned. Scrounging for and being short on devices is not conducive to learning in today’s classroom. I have found Amazon Fire devices for a very reasonable price and have checked to make sure they are compatible with our LMS. Getting these devices for my students would help them be able to view, participate in, and submit lessons on a digital platform.
