At our school, our advisory program is created as a way to build a home away from home for our students. We expect our staff to build communities inside of advisory that support the social, emotional and academic growth of each of our students. The materials provided will create "Advisory Kits" so that each student has equal access to an advisory that looks more like a family than a homeroom. Through these materials, each student's experience of advisory will be taken to a new level as they are provided with more team building activities, opportunities for reflection and expanding their growth mindset. Each kit will include: 1 Copy of "My Fantastic Elastic Brain" - to teach growth mindset 4-5 Composition Notebooks - to use for private communication between student and teacher 1 Black Belt - to ensure that all students are dressed and ready to go (in uniform) every day 1 Dry Erase Board and markers - to put morning message and circle question on each day Post-Its, Markers, Construction Paper, Yarn and Popsicle Sticks - to be used for various team builders and activities 1 Plastic Bin to keep all advisory materials inside These kits will provide all necessary materials for advisors to carry out planned lessons during "Team Time", a one hour time each week that teachers have with their advisory.
