My 4th graders love to read. We are in need of NEW high-interest fiction and nonfiction books in our classroom. Reading nonfiction is an important skill and teaching nonfiction requires great books! The "You Wouldn't Want to Be" series is an engaging, exciting set of books that will have kids saying "I WOULD want to read these books! They have great text features, fun illustrations, make history come alive and portray facts in a kid friendly way. The "Who Was" and "Who Is" series of nonfiction biographies are also a very popular and highly engaging nonfiction series that engages children with people and places in history. I am also requesting a set of Mary Downing Hahn books. She is a commonly requested author due to her style of mystery writing and I want to make these thrilling books available to my students.
