Imagine being in a classroom all day and having a variety of places to sit and work more comfortably. You see a variety of places to sit and work, and students who are actively engaged in reading/writing comfortably. This is my vision for my classroom. I would love to give my students the comfortable and inviting classroom they deserve. The current curriculum will allow them to work more independently and in small groups. The students love to choose where they want to sit during their independent time. However, students currently just work at desks throughout the day on metal chairs. I am moving towards flexible seating that will give them more options and meet their individual learning needs. I will use the stools, discs, and lap desks to provide the comfort and active learning they seek. In doing so, they will be even more engaged and focused on their learning. A body as rest stays at rest. A body in our new activate seating will stay engaged. A student that has more options of where to sit will feel at home. I look forward to giving my students the opportunity the make moving part of learning!
