I am requesting items to add to our school wide store, where students are rewarded for positive behavior. Using cognitive behavioral theory, I am seeking to reward my students' positive behavior with items that they will love to "purchase" with imitation "money" earned for exhibiting positive behavior. Most importantly, the items such as Crayola crayons, Leapfrog Readers, and athletic equipment will serve as motivation to earn "money" to make purchases in the school's store. By funding this project you are impacting my students' learning in more ways than I could explain at this moment. My students will not only be afforded a classroom that is free of disruptions when all students are behaving properly, but the teachers may be able to spend more time teaching skills over completing paperwork to refer students for discipline. Most of all, the students whom are frequently referred for discipline will have something to look forward to rather than acting out in class. Positive behavior support and emphasis seeks to bring out and emphasize the best in all of my students rather than just punish for improper behavior.
