After getting to know my kinders and their unique learning modalities, I have found that the students really enjoy working with different manipulatives. These manipulatives benefit greatly in their learning because they make the learning not only fun and enjoyable, but it gives them experiences to connect their learning to! These manipulatives would greatly support them in their learning this year! The materials that have been selected would be used on a daily basis through our literacy centers with word work and learning our alphabet as well as during our math units where we respond individually and build numbers using our ten frames! We would be able to use the number blocks that I selected to identify different sounds, build new sight words, and learn how to create different word families. We would also use the ten frame paddles so they could to respond using their ten frame as well as write their number sentence below. They would not only allow the students to get the most out of the learning that takes place, but they would also allow us to use our time much more efficiently throughout our day! As a first year teacher, funding these materials was not in my budget with re-locating as well as funding to begin my new classroom! Any donations would be greatly appreciated by my students and myself!
