Think back to elementary school, did you ever have a classroom without a carpet where you sat and the teacher read to you? I am teaching kindergarten through third grade special education. This is my first year teaching, and am very fortunate to be teaching in a supportive school environment. I am teaching in a low income school, and am very passionate about closing the achievement gap. I believe that the problems with the achievement gap begin with issues in literacy. I am very concentrated on teaching phonics and literacy, and I know that many of my students are struggling in these areas. I am anticipating a very intense year, but am so excited about these students!
