My students live near a sea port that currently has a proficient fishing and crabbing industry. This connection will allow them to learn about current problems and ways that they can help the ocean that is in their own backyards. These World Without Fish books will allow my students to read and learn about the authors point of view and how ocean life is impacted by humans. My students will study how an author develops point of view and how an author’s perspective is evident in his or her writing. They will then delve more deeply into learning about over fishing methods and fish depletion. This will help them to determine the best way that they can become involved within their community and beyond. Finally, my students will then be able to being to make those changes in their lives that will be beneficial for their families and their future lives.
