I teach in a classroom full of students with various learning disabilities. In order for the students to grasp a concept, it usually takes a lot of practice, repetition, and a variety of methods before they catch on. Many of them are visual learners. Having a projector in the classroom will help my students understand concepts better and faster as they will be able to see and experience what they are learning. Anything we work on in class could be projected onto the board. Instead of just hearing my voice, they will be able to follow along, both hearing and seeing what they are learning. This is a multi-sensory experience and the concepts are more likely to stick with them. My student's learn best through a variety of methods. This projector will help add variety and excitement to the classroom. We are limited in our access to technology, but, if we could have a projector in the classroom, our options will expand to images online, activities I've created, and added emphasis of what we are working on using the document camera. Finally, this projector will give me the opportunity to provide educational games and activities that will engage the whole class and encourage a love of learning. The most important feeling a student can experience during school is love and excitement for learning. I want my students to feel that love of learning every single day they enter my classroom. I believe that having this projector will enable my students to be more successful at school, home, and in their future as concepts are solidified through multi-sensory experiences, with excitement and variety, and through fun and engaging games and activities. I want my students to feel like they are successful. This project will be key to their futures!
