These drawing pads and pencils will give students, who are having difficulty socializing, the tools they need to communicate and share their creative ideas with other students who they would otherwise not get to know. Putting down gaming for just 30 minutes and sharing their drawings helps break through their social shyness. This project is a social and emotional learning (SEL) strategy that is helping students who are suffering from social anxiety, depression, stress, and who are easily distracted. When we help students engage productively with one another and help them handle the social stresses in their lives, we prepare them for better social, emotional, and academic success.
