There have been several studies that show how effective manipulatives have been in increasing mathematics achievement. Before students can really understand mathematical concepts deeply, they must actually experience or "do" the situation; manipulatives make the "doing" possible. Manipulatives help students learn by allowing them to move from using concrete materials to deeper abstract thinking. Manipulatives have been found to help with verbalizing mathematical thinking, discuss mathematical ideas and concepts, relating real-world situations to math, and to work collaboratively. Rekenreks help students to count, add, subtract, and decompose and compose numbers. The base ten blocks will be used to reinforce place value concepts during guided math, calendar, and centers. Unifix cubes are vital tools to use for measurement, counting, addition, and subtraction. Please help put manipulatives into the hands of my students. The manipulatives I'm asking for are Rekenreks, base ten blocks, and Unifix cubes. Thank you in advance for these awesome materials!
