I'm a firm believer in keeping the focus on what's really important: my students, and If there is a way to keep my students motivated and with a higher engagement for learning the material I present them with, then I am more than willing to adapt my classroom accommodations to do so. So why flexible seating you may ask? Well, I've found, through experience and research that some of the immediate benefits of flexible seating include burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture. And, it's no surprise that physical activity is linked to higher academic performance, better health, and improved behavior. Plus, I have personally found that, when given a choice, my students usually tend to gravitate out of their seats and to alternative learning areas.
