All students want to learn and be a part of a community. Sometimes other needs in student's lives aren't being met. Students need nutritious food, connections to nature, family and social relationships, rest/sleep and exercise/movement to help be successful in school. Students will be able to practice calm down breathing techniques and yoga poses to help with self-regulation and emotional stability. Yoga calm can help keep students in the classroom who struggle with behavior because they are learning specific strategies they can implement themselves when they start to feel worked up. These techniques they use and practice at school to help them focus and learn can be applied to other situations they have outside of school as well.
