As readers, we understand that sitting at desks in bright rooms can stifle the magic of reading. I plan to introduce Crazy Creek camping chairs into my room. There is nothing more fun than sitting comfortably around the circle and reading with 12 of your closest friends! When I was a camp counselor, my campers fell in love with reading while sitting in their Crazy Creeks. I know my advisees will do the same! Comfort and accessibility can tip the scales in a student's journey towards a love of reading! The items I am asking for will ensure that my students will have the ability to transform their classroom into a comfortable reading nook at the drop of a hat. One of the Chromebooks will function as a dedicated checkout station for our classroom library. This provides a wonderful teaching opportunity. I will work with my students as they learn how to maintain a spreadsheet and organize our physical resources and become responsible stewards of our classroom. The writing curriculum, reading reference guides, chart paper and second Chromebook will play an invaluable role in augmenting my students' journey towards collaboration and expression. The chart paper and print materials will allow my students to organize and present their ideas. The Britannica collection can help students check their work from a resource outside of the internet. This is increasingly more necessary in helping students identify the trustworthiness of sources. We'll use the second Chromebook as a reflection center in a quiet corner of our room. This is for students who need to take a break and reflect on their behavior. Here, they'll fill out a reflection to be delivered to my iPad. The Lesson can continue while I message with the student and help prepare them to return to the whole group!
