With keyboards for their iPads, my students will be able to type up reports, prepare for the new state testing that requires them to write essays and become proficient with word processing. The keyboards I am requesting will give my students the ability to complete projects more quickly and efficiently. Keyboards will give students a start toward 21st century skills needed in their future schooling and eventually their careers. Fifth grade is a pivotal time for students to start learning and mastering these skills. In addition, the new state testing requires long typed essays that my students will need to complete. With keyboards, these students will be prepared and ready to succeed on this task.
