Scholastic News Magazine uses an interactive website for students (and teachers) to use that shows small videos that go along with the weekly topic, games related to the content, and supplemental worksheets. There is a new issue for each week and is related to the real world as children know it. For example, during the fall you could have activities and reading centered around apple or pumpkin harvests, or during the winter you could have activities and reading centered around what happens to animals in the winter. The magazine subscription also correlates with the language arts Common Core Standards and has worksheets and website activities designed to target specific standards for students to practice. The website also lets you archive issues from the past, so you can find more materials to help cover the standards.
