My first-graders love to build! We use books, paper, popsicle sticks, and even food to build with, but we need sustainable materials that can support all students at once. The LEGO Simple Machines Sets will allow my students to investigate levers, pulleys, and axles as they build solutions to proposed problems. They will work as engineers do: researching, brainstorming, building, and evaluating their designs. These sets will provide enough materials for my students to work in teams as they explore the fundamentals of engineering. These lessons will be taught in rotations to four first-grade classes, reaching 100 students each year!
