My scholars are bright and capable kids. The major hurdle I face in my classroom is getting my students to see themselves as scholars, more specifically as scientists. If my students can look the part with lab coats while they conduct their experiments, they will be more likely to see themselves as the wonderful scientist they are. Last year 60% of our scientists passed their end of year exam. That is up from the class before them only passing at a rate of 23%. I know that this year can be even better if I can get my scholars to see themselves as scientists.
