One problem we have in our classroom is the technology. My students are very motivated by computers, iPads, and tablets. I bought a few low cost tablets last year, but unfortunately they were just as useless as our classroom computers. Our technological resources aren't up to par with the 21st century and often times will get frustrating and less motivating for the kiddos, myself, and my assistant. The computers that we do have freeze, the sound stops working, or they just plain and simple will not turn on. On a daily basis, my special education students are given directive to use an online program called Fast ForWord. Fast ForWord is a family of educational software products intended to enhance cognitive skills of children, especially focused on developing "phonological awareness." It's a great educational program for students with special needs. Our school has also provided us with great online educational memberships to "Reading A to Z" and "Starfall." Being able to use the iPad Minis during center rotations, Fast ForWord time, and other earned motivational technology time for our kiddos to learn, would be great! Any donations would be awesome and know that they will be greatly appreciated by some special little learners.
