At the center of personalized learning is the individual child. We know each child comes into our classrooms with different experiences and different ways of connecting with the world around them. What if we allowed more student choice in the way they learned? That is the goal in my classroom this year. I am going to start with the choice of flexible seating. The flexible seating option allows students to find comfortable positions throughout the classroom in order to produce their best work! It helps them to be calm and focused as well as productive! I also believe that flexible seating helps to create a greater classroom community by encouraging students to take pride in our space and supplies. My students will use the seat cushions and the carpets to give them some support when they choose to work on the floor around the classroom. The ottomans will be used as seats as well as storage and the lap desk trays will be perfect for student work stations!
