Everyday my students come to school ready to learn. In first grade we have a huge emphasis on reading. My students are learning to read, learning how to have fluency when reading, using expression, and many more things to go with reading. Listening to reading helps students not only learn to read and get familiar with words, but it also allows them to experience the fluency and expression that goes along with words. This also instills their love of reading by being able to enjoy the story. Students at this age are not typically fluent readers so being able to get into a story without struggling through it is big for them! They are able to enjoy the story while still learning to read. We will be using our Kindles during our Daily 5 rotations for listening to reading. This will allow each child in the group to use their own Kindle and choose a book that would be more engaging for them.
