This year we are focusing on creating rich literacy experiences. By having the leveled readers in the classroom, we can thrive in guided reading groups and independent/partner reads. Giving low income students access to a genuine literacy experience will set them up for success for their future. I have a daily 5 routine set up for my students to get the chance to experience a variety of literacy experiences such as Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Word Work and Work on Writing. A listening center will give my auditory learners a comfortable place to succeed. Our students deserve to be part of an authentic literacy experience.
