I am requesting a stretchy band, beanbags, and scarves for my primary music classroom. Many of my 4-year-old students come to school as non-English speakers. There are ten different languages spoken in our school! The music room is one of the few places where they smile and feel comfortable. Throughout their school day, they may feel anxious and scared because they do not understand their classmates or teachers. In my classroom, I model using body language and use lots of movement. The relaxed music room environment creates a sense of fun that they might not get elsewhere. I want to use these music materials to help students with different aspects of music. The stretchy band is great for locomotor movement such as marching or walking to the beat. The students in the Child Development program have trouble staying in a circle when marching so this circular band will be a great help. The band will also be great for keeping the steady beat during songs. The beanbags will be used for steady beat acquisition and movement with scarves is great for listening to the phrases in music. Thank you for helping my students acquire these movement materials!
