The equipment requested in this project will go on to help all of our students have a recess that is filled with more fun. The more equipment that our school has for recess will increase the opportunity for students to become more physically active during recess time. Unfortunately, a lot of our recess equipment is old and outdated. Students are asking me all the time if they can use P.E. equipment at recess and unfortunately I have to tell them no. If this project if funded, students will have more equipment to play with during recess. With a greater quantity of quality recess materials, our students will be given an additional opportunities to become physically active and improve their fundamental loco-motor movement skills and manipulative movements. This recess equipment will allow students to practice the eight fundamental loco-motor skills (walk, skip, gallop, hop, jump, side-slide, speed-walk, and jog) that we teach in Physical Education and it will provide an opportunity to work on other types of manipulative movements (throw, catch, kick, trap, dribble, strike, volley) throughout the duration of recess. With these new resources, students will be provided additional opportunities to have fun at recess. In addition to having fun, students will have more opportunities to refine the skills they learn in their Physical Education class (fundamental loco-motor movement skills and manipulative movements).
